POPEry
Hi saints
( all believers are saints 1 Corinthians 1:12 )
the recent furore over a new Pope has drawn attention to a few pertinent passages of the Bible
Mary referred to God MY Saviour Luke 1 47
thereby acknowledging that she was a sinner like us all in need of a Saviour
Blessed indeed as the chosen mother of Jesus, but NO immaculate conception dogma from Mary's own mouth
Mary & Joseph had other children after Jesus
the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Matthew 13: 55, 56
So much for Marys celibacy after Jesus birth - he had 4 brothers plus sisters
Peter / Simon’s wife’s mother was sick Luke 4 : 38
Peter was married
He was neither single nor celibate
Peter - the supposed first pope and leader amongst the Apostles
but it was James as the spokesman for the apostles council NOT Peter
James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me Acts 15: 13
and announced their considerations
Paul later recognised 3 of the Apostles by name
when James, Cephas (Peter) , and John, who seemed to be pillars Galatians 2 : 9
but note ... James before Peter
also note the order of their Epistles in the New Testament - first James, then Peter, then John
recognising this same order of preference
Paul disagreed with Peter and rebuked him personally and publicly
when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed Galatians 2:11
Paul had to correct Peter's theology and practice errors
So much for Papal infallibility in theological matters
Vatican wealth now compared to Peter then
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts 3:6
Peter demonstrated Gods power and gifts, not the financial accumulation of riches
CHRIST ianity ... YES
but
Religiosity, Popery, dogma ... NO thanks
