GO & BUY

Another Grandson arrived recently, and he is such a delight !

Just a few months old, he is totally dependent on his Mother …. for most everything !

Food on demand, and frequent nappy changes !

He is a total recipient, and if it doesn’t suit him for whatever reason at all, his rejection system fully functions and he just spits it back out !

BUT …. If some one was to come back in several years time, and find him doing exactly the same thing, it would be necessary to call the doctor, or the psychiatrist !

There just has to be GROWTH, and DEVELOPMENT …. or there is something seriously and radically wrong with that person !

And yet …… SPIRITUALLY, that is exactly what happens in so many Churches, and throughout the religious system.

There is a ‘Mother’ figure … or usually a strong ‘spiritual FATHER’ figure, who supplies and feeds easily digested ‘food’, …. and then cleans up the ‘messes’ afterwards.

And then there are the baby Christian RECIPIENTS …… the SPOON FED absorbers,

happy to stay eternally IMMATURE, constantly receiving,

and spitting back out what they don’t like, or what they don’t agree with !

Get the general picture of most of institutionalised Christendom ??

Worn out professional ‘spiritual FATHERS’, and spiritually bloated, over-nourished, under-exercised, immature, constantly demanding, non-thinking B A B Y Christians shining the pews of the spiritual nursery !

But it is so much easier to just show up and be fed with pre-digested morsels, than to have to seek and find for yourself.

And the RELIGIOUS SYSTEM loves it so !

In fact is totally dependent on it being that way … how else could they operate and function ?

So long as the flock of immature BABIES show up regular, and PAY up also, to keep the system ticking over !

Show Up, Pay Up, Shut Up

But in a natural nursery, if there was no development, relatives would soon call for the doctor, or the psychiatrist …… or the Police !

For Israel in the Land , BC, it was not so …

The Jews only went up to the Temple on special occasions … and they were mostly joyous feast days e.g the Pass-over, or the Feast of Tabernacles …. just a few times a year in fact.

The remainder of the year it was the over to the family itself, it was personal !

It was the parents role to feed, guide, raise and see that the family developed both naturally and spiritually. The Father’s / parents role was to head the family Unit in every way, spiritually and naturally, and ensure the children’s development likewise.

Matthew 25 contains the story of the 10 virgins … 5 who had OIL for their lamps, and 5 who did not ( Oil being a type of the Holy Spirit throughout scripture )

And when the bridegroom came, the 5 without suddenly realised that they did not have the real OIL, and sought some from the others

Who responded “NO, GO AND BUY for yourselves ‘

And as they eventually went to buy, the Bridegroom came and it was TOO LATE

But the point of the story is simple …

GO AND BUY for yourselves BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, and you get found out !

And that is what the Institutionalised Religious System ‘Fathers’ don’t tell the dependent ‘spiritual babies’ …. that spoon-fed and pre-digested food leaves you totally dependent on the supplier, and that a day is coming when immature ‘baby Christians’ will be found out.

But the necessary personal effort to GO AND BUY is too tough !!

And so many institutionalised Churches become ‘Gated Communities’

even ‘Cloisters’, or spiritual CLUBS …. cosy, comfortable, and supposedly ‘safe‘

with a fortress mentality ….. and legalism thrives.

With the PRIME religious TV channel, and my flicking to it occasionally, I find that most of the religious programes are led by TEACHERS or ‘performers’.

Rarely are there those with Pastoral gifts, or any other giftings displayed.

The premise seems to be that KNOWLEDGE will change people !

But NOT SO, knowledge only informs …. WISDOM is knowing how to apply that knowledge, and is something quite different.

We need the waiting on God for ourselves !

The infilling of the OIL of the Holy Spirit has to be personal.

We can only buy the oil for ourselves, another person cannot do it for us.

We need to experience the QUCKENING of the word by the Holy Spirit … personally

As an expectant mother feels the unborn child move in her belly … that is the same feel of a ‘quickening’ that the Holy Spirit brings to the Word of God when absorbed within us.

That is the ‘GOING to BUY’ that the 5 foolish virgins should have done.

Psalm 119 : 25, 37, 40, 50, 93, 107 repeats 6 times about the ‘quickening of the Word’ which I love, crave, and have experienced sooooo many times now.

I remember the illustration of how the eagle teaches her chicks how to fly ..

When they are developed sufficiently, she carries them on her wing way way way up to the giddy heights …. then DROPS THEM !

And on the way down, they have to get their own wings moving, and F L Y

But then she swoops down and … just before disaster …. scoops them up, and takes them up high again, and DROPS THEM AGAIN …. over and over until they get the idea for themselves.

And so they LEAVE THE COMFORTABLE NEST, and learn to fend for themselves, and develop, and start their own family.

Would to God that the religious world would learn likewise, and tip the chicks out of the nest, and do them a favour, and teach them all how to FLY for themselves

GO AND BUY for yourselves is the message of the 10 virgins

Grandson, I will be watching you, and your development through the many years ahead …. and when the time is right, you too will have to GO AND BUY for yourself
