CHOSEN
Now this will, or should ... 'blow your mind''
I recall reading these verses not long after my ' born again' experience many moons ago, and I was gob-smacked then, as I have been again recently on re-reading them.
You have not chosen me but I have chosen you Jesus words to his followers John 15:16
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will Ephesians 1:4, 5, 11
predestined …. get it ?
For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him — and all along he knew who would — should become like his Son, so that his Son would be the First, with many brothers. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him; and when we came, he declared us “not guilty,” filled us with Christ’s goodness, gave us right standing with himself, and promised us his glory. Romans 8 : 29, 30
Sooooooooo you thought that “once upon a time” you chose Jesus as Saviour … and I presume that you have and did, just like me ... wonderful, great !
But, on perusal … God was “in on the act” way long before our momentous decision.
fore-knowledge … election … chosen … predestined … written in Gods Book WOW
biggggggggg meaning words
that we can only start to wonder at …
the awesomeness of God and his dealings with us, His selection, His foreknowledge, His workings along the pathway of our life, amidst all of our personal choices and the unfolding of our individual tapestry !
until we eventually met Him ...
Jesus the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world Revelation 13:8
Peter echoed this about Jesus … Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1 : 20
our little minds can only sense the vastness of God and His dealings with us, His hand in our lives – before we even drew breath !
David knew about it and mused, then wrote, over 3,000 years ago ...
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvellous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. W O W
amazing to ponder about, awesome to reflect on, the wonder of it all and our Creator / Father / Saviour God …. gets it all into perspective … His majesty ! and us the object of his love and purpose and dealings !
And with the sweet Psalmist we can but also echo some of his other thoughts …
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.Psalm 104 : 33, 34
Amen and A M E N |
